NEW POST OF LUISANA LOPILATO'S BLOG "MINI BUBLE'S DIARY"

Thank You!

It makes me very happy to have shared the arrival and the early days of my baby with you. I was thrilled with your displays of affection and also with your stories. I learned a lot and I identified with many of you as you probably did with me.
I encourage those who can to continue donating to UNICEF and supporting their efforts to help mothers and children around the world.
We want to send you all a big hug!
- Lu, Mike and Noah
PS: The winners will be announced next week!

That same day Michael Buble was spotted by fans holding his newborn son Noah in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, U.S.A.

NEW POST OF LUISANA LOPILATO'S BLOG "MINI BUBLE'S DIARY"

Join Luisana & Michael to help UNICEF!

Throughout my pregnancy the health of mothers and babies around the world has always been on my mind.  I’m so happy to have joined UNICEF to help raise awareness around the importance of proper nutrition for mothers and babies, and giving them the support they need.
UNICEF operates in more countries and helps more children than any other humanitarian organization. They do whatever it takes to reach vulnerable children, providing immunizations, malaria nets, sending children to schools and training health workers to trek across the desert. They work with and coordinate everyone who cares about children - partner organizations, governments, communities, parents and children themselves - to make sure no child is left behind.
Help me do something amazing today. Join us to raise awareness for UNICEF and the great things they are doing by mentioning @UNICEFArgentina #BabybubleLastChallenge #Babybuble.  If we can get enough visibility, Michael and I will release a special content as a token of our appreciation.

September 11, 2013 - Feelings out in the open

NEW POST OF LUISANA LOPILATO'S BLOG "MINI BUBLE'S DIARY"

Feelings out in the open

Sometimes I go from feeling fully happy to extremely sensitive. I’ve already been told that my mood swings come from these typical life changes, going from a family of two to three, and a third one that doesn’t speak! He expresses himself through crying and making faces, and I have to keep calm and connected, though sometimes it’s great to have him connect to Mike too, so I can rest a little bit. Sometimes before sleeping I see the two of them together and I’m filled with tenderness. My two boys also connect through the way they look at each other, hugs and cuddles. I feel happy and grateful to have such a great partner by my side.

September 5, 2013 - Breastfeeding Noah

NEW POST OF LUISANA LOPILATO'S BLOG "MINI BUBLE'S DIARY"

Breastfeeding #minibublé

If there’s something every doctor I’ve talked to has advised me, that’s to breastfeed. Every mom will tell you about it, but until you don’t do it you have no idea how powerful that bonding moment between you and your baby is. It is amazing for me to be able to give Noah exactly what he needs.  ¿Did you know breast milk contains everything that your newborn baby requires for his nutrition? Proteins, carbohydrates, salt, minerals, vitamins… and everything in the right proportion. Nature knows best. But it mainly is a beautiful experience that I’ve just came to understand.
How to know if you are doing it right? You can tell by these things:
You’re going to hear your baby swallow.
You’re going to notice if he is satisfied and at ease.
He is going to sleep well.
He will gain weight.
He is going to wet his diaper at least six times a day.
Also, breastfeeding makes you lose your extra pregnancy weight so… it really comes in handy, doesn’t it? Haha.
Here (at page 66) there’s more information about breastfeeding,

August 30, 2013 - Noah’s arrival

NEW POST OF LUISANA LOPILATO'S BLOG "MINI BUBLE'S DIARY"

Noah’s arrival

I’m living an incredible experience, of course it has it’s pros and cons, but when I see my baby’s eyes looking at me with so much love and making me feel that he needs me… everything makes sense.
I had seven hours of labor. I broke water while I was taking a nap at home, and quickly the contractions started. We went right to the hospital and then it all began. Everything was going ok and Mike helped me through everything. I still think I couldn’t have made it on my own. I was so afraid: I was not in my home country, nor did people speak my main language, so everything scared me a bit more.
Because a complication with the umbilical cord, my baby was born by c-section. The doctors and mike were super calmed and were there for me every second. I was feeling a bit frustrated because I thought that I had done everything to make sure my baby had a natural birth, but I had to do what was best for him, so I just carried on and let the doctors do their job.
I went to the operating room and in less than 20 minutes little Noah was born! It was the best moment of my life, the best feeling ever. You just can’t compare it.
Recovery was a bit hard in the first 2 days, but by the third I felt a lot better.
The most important thing at this stage is that you breastfeed (which I’m going to talk you about more in-depth next week) and that the baby sleeps comfortably. ¡You should know newborn babies sleep A LOT! But they probably won’t do it within your schedule. Just be patient: If the baby cries, make sure he eats and burps if he needs to. Gradually he will get used to sleeping at night and not intermittently. To swing him softly while singing a lullaby probably will come to you naturally. I obviously take advantage of his father’s talents for this!
Here is a very complete guide of the newborn care. It has a lot of information that will definitely be helpful to you.

August 22, 2013 - Baby Buble’s Room

 August 22, 2013

NEW POST OF LUISANA LOPILATO'S BLOG "MINI BUBLE'S DIARY"

#BabyBuble’s Room

Putting together your baby’s room makes everything seem more real and closer. I think, generally, us moms are more in charge of things like decorating, choosing the palette and furniture. It is a moment in pregnancy in which the busier we are, the better.

Our baby is going to have one room in Argentina and one in Canada. The first one is in white and baby-blue tones, with some brown touches here and there, and the Vancouver one has a mix of dark blue, grey and white. My dad helped me to hang some shelves in the walls because Mike wasn’t in Argentina at the time. In Canada, my two sisters-in-law helped me with everything. We had a really great time.
I would have loved Mike being there to help me, but he had a three week tour in England in July.  We obviously kept in touch the whole time, and he constantly asked me for pictures of the room but I didn’t want him to see it till he got home. I wanted to surprise him, because I was sure he was going to get emotional as soon as he entered the room. And he did.

The big news

When I found out I was having a baby I started paying attention to other moms, started talking with other women at doctor’s waiting room, and I felt very “serious” but happy to be committed to my control appointments. One thing I talked about with my doctors was that if anything was not right (if I saw blood of fluid leaks) I knew where to go in case of an emergency. It may sound strange, but it made me and Mike feel reassured. It is important to feel like they are taking care of me.

August 8, 2013 - Songs for the belly

Songs for the belly

You know what? I can swear that #babybuble can hear Mike’s voice. I feel him moving when Mike touches and sings to my belly. Yes: I know I may be too sensitive, but I swear each time that happens it’s all joy.
But I’m not crazy! My doctor told me that is good to talk and play music to your baby, because he is learning how to hear and recognize voices and sounds. According to my doctor, mom and dad’s voices make the baby feel comfortable and confident, even before  birth. So I’m calling my baby by his name since now, so I can make him feel unique, and  part of the family.
And have you noticed that actually many moms like to play music to the belly to get connected with their babies? That’s because the baby can feel the vibrations. After birth, that will calm him down: it will make him feel safe when he hears the same music.
Here’s a video of Mike and Me talking to our #babybuble

July 31, 2013 - What do I eat, Dani?

NEW POST OF LUISANA LOPILATO'S BLOG "MINI BUBLE'S DIARY"

What do I eat, Dani?

I’m lucky that my sister is a nutritionist and she designed a plan specifically for me. She says it’s very important for me to organize the way I eat, and most of all, to make sure I eat the necessary nutrients during the pregnancy. Also to respect the foods that are good for my body in this stage:
Dairies raw and cooked greens, fruits and meats, I have to eat every day.
Meats I have to alternate between fish, red meat and chicken.
Eggs, three or four times a week
Cereal, pasta, fresh legumes (organic even better), eat some every day. The same with bread, I can have two small pieces a day.
And since Dani is so awesome, she also gave me some special tips for pregnant women:
Being pregnant doesn’t mean you have to eat twice as much! You don’t have to eat a lot more, but eat better.
During the first trimester there is no need to increase calories. Starting on the second trimester, caloric need increase by 300 calories a day based on a 200 calorie a day diet.
Eating foods rich in nutrients and vitamins like folic acid, but not in fats.
The ideal weight gain during pregnancy is from 9 to 12 kilograms, which guarantees the proper development of the baby as well as the mother’s health, since overweight during pregnancy can cause problems during pregnancy and birth.
In order for the baby to grow properly, you need to have enough calcium, for bone development, iron for blood cells, folic acid to prevent malformations, and iodine and omega 3 for the nervous system.
Drinking water is essential during pregnancy since it facilitates digestion, toxin eliminations, and it helps with constipation and fluid retention. Avoid using too much salt.
Alcohol during pregnancy is prohibited, since it can affect the baby’s development.
Fish: it’s a major source of omega 3 and omega 6, essential nutrients during pregnancy, but also high in mercury. Therefore it’s recommended to limit red tuna and eat more white tuna, salmon, hake and sole. Eating raw fish like sushi and sashimi is not recommended (bye sushi for a few months).
Eat cereals, legumes and carbs daily for their fiber and energy.
Reduce consumption of sweets, sodas, candy, bakery goods and trans fats. (This is really hard Dani!!!)
Use lemon instead of vinegar for salads. Vitamin C helps absorb iron from food.
At first you’ll feel nauseous, but it will go away and you’ll feel energized, you walk more and even do physical activity with medical approval. I never stopped going to the gym. It makes me feel good and I think if I feel good, it’s good for the baby.
Since I’m following Dani’s diet and I go to the gym, I can have some tasty treats.

July 26, 2013 - Mom’s One Line a Day

NEW POST OF LUISANA LOPILATO'S BLOG "MINI BUBLE'S DIARY"

Mom’s One Line a Day

One phrase a day. I got it a week ago and began writing something every day. I write how I feel, if I had a new sensation… basically the same thing I do here for you guys, but with less detail.
I had a false alarm yesterday. I had contractions for several hours. I called the labor assistant, who came home and started timing my contractions. I was afraid of the unknown. The episode made me more aware of that I’m going to feel on the big day.  After the contractions were over, I was able to sleep throughout the night. The doctor explained that at this stage, they are my body’s way of preparing for what’s to come. Now he things that the baby may come a little before that expected. Will that be the case?
Since the beginning of my pregnancy, speaking with the my obstetrician has always been very calming for me. The first appointment lasts longer because the doctor or obstetrician asks about health issues, past family and personal illnesses, and shots. It’s a VERY important meeting because it will guide us on how to approach certain complications that may happen during the pregnancy. We’ll also be asked about the date of our last period in order to establish an approximate date of birth. Keep in mind that this date is an approximation: the birth may happen two weeks before or a week after that date, and it’s normal if it does.
There are other things you should keep in mind: to be weighed and have your blood pressure taken, have a pap done if you didn’t get one within the last year (don’t worry, it’s very important for your health and it doesn’t affect the pregnancy at all), get a request for blood and urine tests (to find out if you need to take actions to correct problems like anemia, very usual in women). If you had blood leaks, it’s important to get a gynecologic exam called “tact”.
If you are planning on having a baby, the best thing is to schedule an appointment first, because there is a possibility of preventing some illnesses that affect the baby by taking folic acid a month before and during the first months of the pregnancy. You can also get shots that you don’t have (like hepatitis B), as well as detecting STDs, even HIV. Don’t be scared: it’s all for your own good and the baby’s health. The sooner you know, the more time the doctors have to help.
We also talk about life, work and dietary habits. All this helps clear doubts, and it’s very reassuring for the doctor to answer whatever questions may come up right there. For example: Is it normal to sleep more? Why are there some foods or aromas that I don’t like anymore? What can happen during the first months of the pregnancy?
How about you? How was your first doctor appointment? What were you worried about and what answers did you get? Feel free to share!

July 24, 2013 - Mini Buble's Diary

July 24, 2013
Luisana Lopilato started a blog with UNICEF so that she can share with her fans every detail and news about her pregnancy and the birth of her son.
On her first post on this blog, these are her words: "I’m starting this blog because I wanted to share with you this very special moment in my life. I know a lot of women and men are going through or will soon go through, what Mike and I are experiencing, and they should know how special it is. If you haven’t been parents yet or are too young, I’d like you to live this moment with me so you can know what your parents felts like, and how powerful it is.
You realize the huge responsibility of having a kid and that’s where doubts begin to appear. With UNICEF’s help, I’d like for us to clear those doubts together. I’m entering the last stage of my pregnancy. It’s been a wonderful experience until now. So I’ll start telling you about all the beautiful thing we’ve been through since we found out we were expecting, and everything that’s ahead of us.
I’ll be waiting for you every week to share this diary. In the meantime, you can share it with your friends, family, brothers and sisters, so other people can be a part of this huge moment. You’re more than welcome to share with me if you are expecting, have a small baby, or someone in your family does."
