Three weeks before the marriage ,Gente magazine does an article about the big day.
When she first met him she thought he was gay. Then, some time later they started to contact by mail, and finally dating. It was that simple and two years later Michael proposed marriage. He took the ring and kept it all day in his pants so that they do not see it and raise concern and, during a family dinner at Lopilato's home, he said in a very practiced Castilian: "I want to marry Lu" . Everyone stared. Silence in the table. He repeated: "I want to marry Lu." The answer? Chorus of laughter from the whole family, almost mockingly said, "Yes, yes, I said well" , thinking it was a practice of language. But then the boyfriend insisted he knelt with his proposal. He was serious.
This was, briefly, the love story of Luisana Lopilato (23) with Canadian singer Michael Buble (35). The couple will seal their love on 31 March in the Civil, and Saturday 2 April with a religious ceremony and party for 300 people.
Luisana gives some details of the wedding:
"Very romantic. Mike spent all day wondering how he could say in Spanish "I want to marry you" and immediately wrote it down on the phone when he found out. At that time I was weird because the truth is that we always talked about someday we were going to get married. That night we met at home with my family and then he started repeating that he wanted to marry me and we all laughed thinking it was a joke. Until a prince knelt, picked up a box with a ring and asked the question to my dad. I still thought it was a joke, I looked at mom and my sister and I saw they were crying. My dad and my brother Darius were like "how dare you!". Obviously I said yes.
- When did you meet his parents?
"That was years ago when we were at the beggining. In fact, yet we were dating and he invited me and my two siblings to accompany him to Los Angeles. There he introduced me to the women of his family. On that first trip I met his mother, grandmother and two sisters, Crystal and Brandee. They are the ones who gave the OK. I think Mike wanted to see if I would pass the test. [Laughs.]
- How do you get along with your in-laws?
"Since we met they treated me like one of their family, made me feel like a daughter. I remember thinking: "How nice it would be to belong to a family like that." Today, my mother gets excited when she sees how I care for my mother in-law. I never met a political family so united.
- And how is Michael's relationship with your parents?
"Very good. Whenever I travel with my family, Mike organized programs to do together. We go to movies or to watch a hockey game. My folks love it.
- How did he win your heart?
- [She's thinking.] It was very slow. Actually, I had the click when I met his family. Then I realized that this guy I was going out with, could actually be the man of my life. He touched me with his family, how they behaved to each other. On that first trip I discovered that I had met someone a lot like me.
- What do you mean?
"In the values, how important it is for him and for me the family life. When I met him my first thought was: "He is 35, a singer, traveling the world, is with everyone." But then, Mike surprised me. When we went to Canada some time to visit his grandfather to teach him how to use the computer, one hour per day. Mike wants to be connected with him when he is on tour.
- How is married life?
-Normal, very usual. I get up early, I take my car, go to the gym. We meet at noon and have lunch together. He likes to cook, I love making risotto and soup. He takes the time to chop vegetables and also puts a bit of chicken.
- What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
"We play tennis and walk a lot. He loves to take walks through the streets of Vancouver.
- How about you?
"No, not me. [Laughs.] I hate walking. I really hate everything that has to do with physical activity. Seriously, I hate it. I go to the gym because I have to, not because it is an enjoyment for me.
- [She's thinking.] I go to watch more bad movies than you can imagine.I took him to see a dog and the typical romantic love me to mourn. He always tells me that no other boyfriend would agree to go see those movies. [Laughs.] These little things I love to do are a big test to him.
- What is it like to be a couple with an international celebrity?
"We both live very naturally. Mike and I enjoy fame. I work since I was 6 years old and I think the days when nobody stop me or ask me for a picture, I feel weird. Perhaps they think that being in Hollywood is different, but there too many celebrities who live their own normality. Fame is part of life that sometimes you live it. After you get to your house it's just you.
- What song will Michael sing at the wedding party?
"I have no idea, he says it's a surprise. But I love all his songs, especially when he sings in Italian, that's very romantic.
- Did you chose the destination of the honeymoon?
I do not know. I told Mike that he decides. For now I am full with the organization of the wedding and finishing decorating our house Nordelta.
- Where will you live after the wedding?
A little there, a bit here. Los Angeles, Canada, Buenos Aires. It will be tough but so far we managed quite well. Everything will depend on my work and his tour.
- Do you want to have children?
"We both want to have a large family, we love the kids. I am 23 years old and want to wait a bit, at least to 26. That's a nice age to be a mother.
"A while ago you mentioned how romantic is Michael ...
"Yes, he is aware of what I need, what I like and what makes me happy. He do not miss a detail, very gentleman. Always ask me how I am. And that simple question to me makes me happy.
- What is the one thing you love about him?
"I am touched by his enthusiasm for life. Mike is a very positive person in everything he does. In that sense, constantly encouraged me to go forward.
